Meet Ashwin
ASHWIN WAS ADOPTED MAY 2012!

Before Lisa Bone co-founded Toby’s Legacy, she was a volunteer for Falconridge Equine Rescue. In March 2011, Falconridge was contacted with a request to rescue “Ashwin.” Ashwin’s owners were looking to place him because they were using Ashwin for jumping and he was periodically coming up lame. As he was unable to fulfill his purposes as a jumper, the owners didn’t desire to care for him anymore. Ashwin was well taken care of with no signs of abuse or neglect. At the time, Falconridge was unable to take him so Lisa decided to dip her toe in the rescue waters.
When he was rescued by Lisa, Ashwin was a 9-year-old, very handsome and slightly arrogant bay. The source of his lameness was quickly identified and treated, and within two months he was adopted by a friend of Lisa’s. While Ashwin’s rescue and adoption was as uncomplicated as they come, his rescue is particularly meaningful as he was the first horse – the beginning – of what would eventually become Toby’s Legacy Equine Rescue.
