COWBOY
This wayward traveler was found by a neighbor on 5/7/14. He wandered onto their property and we believe he was abandoned. The neighbor brought him to our rescue thinking he belonged to us and had gotten out. He was so tired and his poor arthritic knees were causing him a lot of pain. I thought for sure he would need to be euthanized. We set him up for the night with food and some bute. Well, that did the trick. He was running around and rolling in no time. The vet arrived the next day and we determined this 25 year old quarter horse still had a lot of life left in him. We started him on previcox and he is doing great. His big ol' arthritic knees look worse than they feel. He gets around just fine and seems comfortable on his pain management regimen. He is pulled out every evening for grain and is definitely one of the ranch favorites among visitors. He will stay with us and enjoy his golden years as one of our sanctuary horses.
