Farrah

I was attending the Ontario Livestock Auction. I had seen an OTTB prior to the auction and had decided I'd bid on her. Well, as luck would have it, She was one of the last to go through the sale and she went for far higher than I had budgeted for. There was a pony. A scared pony that had gone through. I didn't bid on her because I had planned on bidding on the OTTB. This pony was so scared. She sold to the kill buyer...and haunted me. So, I called the kill buyer and he agreed to sell "that crazy little araby thing.' The next week I picked up this 8ish year old, 14H pony. She was a wreck. I tried placing her in quarantine in the round pen and she ran herself into the ground, screaming the whole while. So, I moved her up into the mare motel.. She tried crawling under the rails to get out. what am I going to do!?! Forget quarantine. I put her into the arena to socialize along the fence line with the pasture herd. Again, ran herself into the ground. Forget it! I opened the gate into the pasture. Sure, she took some licks for being the new guy without a proper introduction but her demeanor completely changed. She went from a nervous, high strung horse to calm as a cucumber. We let her be a horse for a while and relax. Recently, we tested her under saddle. She is a bit antsy on the ground and at the tie rail. For that I say she would be most appropriate for an advance beginner/novice. However, under saddle, she is very light and level headed. She is looking for a forever home now!
