Meet Gatsby
Gatsby was adopted November 12, 2012!
Our poster boy! Gatsby is a beautiful bay roan yearling. He is an easy going guy that will do anything asked of him. He appears to be Quarter Horse with a thick mane and tail. He has not been gelded but hasn't "dropped" yet. Gatsby is low man on the totem pole and perfectly happy with his standing. He gets along with everyone! Gatsby is currently being "ponied" on trail and is doing great. If you're looking for a young gorgeous horse and able to train him, we have the boy for you!
Toyb's Legacy acquired Gatsby when, in April 2012, Lisa Bone, founder of Toby’s Legacy, was following Facebook posts by Stinkin Rose Ranch regarding horses at the Fallon Feedlot in Nevada. This feedlot is owned by Bouvry Exports, the largest slaughterhouse in Canada. Stinkin Rose owner Debra Hawk networks the horses to find them homes and Lisa felt compelled to help. Through extensive networking, all the listed horses were found homes, with Toby’s Legacy agreeing to accept two: "Annie Oakley" and “Gatsby.” A generous friend of Lisa’s, Cathi Reyes, paid their bail ($200 each) and Emergency Animal Rescue in Ramona (a wonderful organization) offered transport for the price of gas. Annie and Gatsby arrived to the ranch on April 17, 2012 only 8 months old with shaggy winter coats, thin and wormy. Both had overgrown feet and Annie had crooked legs.
A wonderful woman named Kari came across Gatsby's story as part of a major rescue effort in October 2012. She fell in love with Gatsby immediately and her feelings were solidified when she came out to the ranch to meet him, Gatsby left with Kari for his new home on November 12, 2012 where he will be spoiled like the prince he is. Toby's Legacy has received photos of Gatsby with his new "brothers" and he's looking like one happy colt. We couldn't be happier they found each other!
