HOLMES

We attended Mike's Auction on 8/9/14. I saw Holmes sitting in a corral prior to the auction. She was underweight, full teats, a foal tail, overgrown feet. I knew she had very recently been a momma, and by the looks of her, I can only guess she had been separated that day. I just felt so sad for her. She lost her baby and was at an auction. She hit bottom. I wasn't anticipating going home with a horse. I decided I'd keep an eye on her and hope she ends up with a private party. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Horses were going for high prices. None of the horses had sold to kill. Then Holmes walks out. First bid by the kill buyer at $40. I didn't see who raised the bid to $50 (turned out it was a fellow rescue but I didn't know that. All I thought was kill buyer, we were running out of time, and she needed to be saved). I raised my hand with the winning bid of $55. She was mine. I was so relieved. She is younger (we will get more accurate age when she is floated), 15H, and sweet as pie. Terin, our bestest foster mom in the whole wide world, offered to foster her. So, we trailered her over to Terin's after auction. She has settled in nicely and will join Miss Watson and, their yearling, Sherlock after quarantine. She has had her feet trimmed, her teats are drying up, has been dewormed, and gaining weight nicely. She is a gem of a girl and I can't wait until she is back up to health. She will be available for adoption after rehab so keep your eye on her. She is one you don't want to miss out on.

Update 10/15/14: Holmes has complete rehab. She is A beautiful bay roan, appendix type mare standing approximately 15H. She is broke to ride and rides nicely.
