Lilac
Lilac was rescued from auction by Forgotten Horses Rescue. She is a yearling but was small and sickly. She was colicing at the auction and Trish from AHR called her vet and had her waiting on standby at auction. It was discovered that Lilac had been septic at one point, She is almost completely blind, underweight, full of sand, and wormy. She was, literally, knocking on deaths door. Thanks to the hard work and prompt care by FHR and their veterinary services Lilac is on the road to recovery. She is a tiny thing. Looks less than six months old from her poor start in life. She is as sweet and trusting as they come. I am so happy she is here with us and can't wait to share the next chapter in her life.
UPDATE:With improved health and love, Lilac has been thriving and vision restored (portal hypertension causing pressure on the optic nerve)
UPDATE: 12/15 After a decline in health, diagnostics, etc, Lilac was diagnosed with liver disease/failure. While we still don't have a cause, she is improving, and will be in rehab until further notice.
UPDATE: 11/16 Lilac has made a full recovery. However, we are not sure whether this will be a chronic problem or a one time deal. While we feel this was related to her initial illness/neglect, we cannot guarantee she won’t have an issue with her liver later. We just don’t know.
Lilac is doing amazing. She is happy and healthy with a clean bill of health. She is searching for her forever family. She has not been started and hope to get her started in Spring. She will need an experienced home.
Congratulations to Lilac and The Pigeon Family!
