SATIN
Satin arrived 3/11/14. We were contacted by a Code Enforcement Officer who found Satin and her 3-4 month old filly, Velvet, starving in a junkyard backyard. The owner had passed away and spouse was struggling to care for them. She has a Body Score of 2 and appears to have given everything she had to her filly. She is very quiet and standoffish. Not trusting but easy to catch. It is difficult to say in her state what breed she is. She will be aged when she is floated. Stay tuned for updates as she progresses through rehabilitation
Update: Satin has not only successfully completed her rehab, but she is a fatty. We have to watch her weight. She loves to eat. Who doesn't!?! She is still just being a mom for Velvet and will being training and evaluation when Velvet is weaned.
Satin is approximately 17 years old and appears to be an Andalusian mare. She was evaluated under saddle. Although willing, she does not appear to be broke to ride. She ties, picks up feet, trailers, and stands for farrier. She can be difficult to catch. Satin will need a lot of work. We are not opposed to adopting her into a home but the home will need to be very experienced with the ability to work with her.
Update: Satin has been diagnosed with DSLD. Available as companion only.
Adoption Fee: $500
