Meet Tugboat
Tug needs a sponsor! Can you help?

"Tugboat" may be small, but he's part of a very big rescue of 63 slaughter-bound horses jointly conducted by the Starlight Sanctuary and Toby's Legacy!
In October 2012, Toby's Legacy received word of a herd of 46 Quarter Horses from a dispersed breeding ranch on a Fallon, Nevada feedlot just awaiting the truck to slaughter. With Laura Bell from the Starlight Sanctuary photographing and identifying each of the horses, Toby's Legacy launched a major social media campaign to find sponsors, donors, adopters, fosterers and transporters to get each of the 46 horses safe. Miraculously, an amazing community came together and all 46 Quarter Horses were rescued! With that week's slaughter truck canceled, the sights were turned to 17 horses already in the kill pen, and each one was also rescued. It was a happy ending for every horse!
Tug was born approximately April 2012. He is currently at Toby's Legacy where he'll be stay until he gets a little older and finds the perfect forever home! This black weanling with one white sock is just the cutest thing and a wonderful reminder of the power people have when they come together to save innocent horses, like this sweet six-month-old, from slaughter.
Tug has joined our family and is now known as Sherman!
